According to the authors of this Letter to the CEO, Julian Birkinshaw and Jonas Ridderstråle, the changes they propose will not just make your business more agile. They will also make your life easier.

 

They call their model Adhocracy. It is about changing our mindset. The focus must be shifted from rules, procedures, knowledge and insight (which make our companies slower and less agile) to one focus on action.

 

Just as in the military, where small units operate in hostile territory, where adaptation and quick choices are imperative, for businesses it's about breaking work into small projects, experimenting, market testing and quickly adapting to feedback.
